My Mom

My parents divorced when I was very young and I grew up without having much of a relationship with my mom. I never thought that she would be such a strong support for me later on. She is an amazing woman and I love her so much. She supports me and loves me unconditionally and I am so lucky to have her. Happy mother's day and I love you.

To all you mothers out there, you're amazing! Happy mother's day.

Pastels Please

So in case it isn't obvious, I'm completely obsessing over anything pastel colored this spring/summer. These are a few (of many) items on my wish list.

What trends are you loving now? I'd love to hear from you!

DIY Hair Mask

Hey everyone! I hope you all are well...school has been hectic post-midterms so I'm sorry for not posting in a long time.

As you may know, I'm a beauty/hair product junkie and love trying new products. My hair is normally very dry and frizzy because I color and relax (terrible I know) it. Since being in Grenada, the frizziness and dryness has become out of control. I'm not sure if it's the water or the sun or a combination of the two but I have noticed a drastic difference in the last couple of months. I purchased pure coconut oil and decided to do a DIY mask to try and help my hair out.

Ingredients: Pure coconut oil (I've heard extra virgin is the best. I'm not sure what mine is but it says pure so I went with it), honey, 1 egg.

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature so what I did was I ran the bottle under warm water to turn it back to liquid instead of heating it in the microwave. In the bowl, I combined the ingredients and mixed it with my hands. I sectioned my hair (make sure your hair is completely dry) and saturated it with the mixture concentrating it on the ends and the top of my hair where the sun hits the most. I combed it through and wrapped a warm towel around my head for about 40 minutes. I washed it out with sulfate-free shampoo.

I have to say the results were AMAZING! I tried olive oil in the past and wasn't impressed with how it made my hair feel. This time, I am completely sold. I'm going to do this once a week and see how that goes.

If any of you have tried a coconut oil mask or any other masks that you love, I would love to hear about it!

Talk to you soon! XO Alex

My Weekend

I had a great post-midterms weekend with great people I've met here at school. Here are some pictures from various places. I didn't end up going to the boat party because I wasn't feeling great so I went to the beach instead and debuted my new bathing suit!

What I wore: Dress: Victoria's Secret in Red Lolli (on sale now), Necklace: eBay, Bikini: Victoria's Secret in Super Galaxy (here), Sunglasses: Michael Kors, Lips: Loreal Color Riche BALM in Pink Satin

All pictures were cropped for privacy reasons, I hope you understand.

In my last post, I wrote about color combinations that are inspired by the Caribbean. I wore my favorite turquoise clover necklace with a red dress which screamed tropical to me. The dress was a hit at the party.

I have another event this coming weekend in which I will debut my new link bracelet from Baublebar (here)! I can't wait to share pictures with you.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Untitled #1

I'm not sure if it's the gorgeous Caribbean views I have everyday or simply my love of bright colors, but I'm adoring bright, bold jewelry in combinations of turquoise and orange lately. Since my midterms have finished (finally), I've been doing quite of bit of much needed shopping. I found these gorgeous pieces and decided to share some of my favorite styles.

I did notice Baublebar has amazing pieces out now, as well as Kendra Scott and Kate Spade. These are some of my favorite jewelry companies because their prices are very reasonable and their jewelry gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorites...

I hope you are all having a great week so far! I'm going on a boat party trip around some of the neighboring islands Saturday and can't wait to share the pictures with you all!

Hey Everyone!

I hope all of you are doing great, things at school have been really crazy and I have midterms coming up in 2 weeks (eek) so I'm studying night and day. I will resume my outfit posts as soon as they are over. In the meantime, Jennifer from eShakti created a discount code that you guys can use from 2/26/13-3/10/13 that is 20% off of your purchase! They just put out their new spring line which is absolutely adorable. I ordered a few things which I will show you when I get them.

If you're not familiar with eShakti, they are a brand out of India that customizes clothing according to your preferences. I did a post back in November of a dress they sent me which I absolutely love. Their shipping is super fast too.

The 20% coupon code is: BRNZEDSNDZ

Take advantage of this and I'd love to hear/see what you get!

Also, thank you all for your kind thoughts and congratulations on getting into medical school. Your support is amazing and really appreciated.

Talk to you guys soon :)

White Coat Ceremony

Today was my white coat ceremony, which is the official induction into medical school. It was a very exciting and emotional day for me because I never thought I would make it to this point and I'm so fortunate and grateful to be in medical school. The chance to follow your dream is priceless and getting my white coat was one of the proudest moments of my life. Here are some pictures of the reception.

What I wore: Blouse: IZOD, Skirt: New York & Co., Shoes: Nine West, Lips: Loreal Color Riche BALM in Pink Satin

Classes officially start tomorrow and I'm very nervous and excited. I will keep you posted on how everything goes.

P.S. As you can see, the humidity in Grenada has not been kind to my hair and there is no remedy!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!
